BETWEEN THE TIDES

Walton Arts Festival

Friday 20th~Sunday 22nd September 2024

Walton’s Art Festival; Between the Tides has been established to celebrate local music, culture, art, literature, spoken word and togetherness – inspiring a respect for our environment, diverse society and each other. A passion for the arts and respect for all people underpins the Festival, and we aim to bring the local community together and to strive towards a culturally rich and inclusive weekend. We encourage performers, venues and visitors to think about sustainability in terms of their transport options, use of plastics and recycle where possible.

The Festival aims to promote inclusion throughout all that we do. We welcome everyone. Our objective is that people of all ages, genders, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, visible and unseen disabilities, social class or education can come together and enjoy themselves in the spirit of friendship, fun, love and peace. Discrimination of any kind is contrary to the values of our wonderful and eclectic community.

The Festival is being put together by volunteers and with limited funding. We want to learn from this first Festival and won’t get everything right. We’d like to receive feedback from participants and visitors to make improvements and adjustments where identified.

On the Day

The Between the Tides Festival will use the tides as a timeline for events over the weekend festival, taking audiences from the sandy beaches at low tide into the town centre venues and Naze Tower at high tide.

  • Visitors will have a map and programme to guide them around the festival events.

  • Live performances and music take place in venues across the town starting on Friday night, and continuing in the day and evening on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Art exhibitions and art works will be shown in high street shops and venues across the town and The Naze.

  • The beaches provide a setting for activities and play.

  • A speaker’s corner for local writers and author events and workshops.

  • The library will host a singing group, Seaside Story time, and a talk on Trains and Transport.
