Not a rocker? There’s more on offer at Walton Arts Festival

Updated: Aug 25

We’ll almost guarantee, there will be music for your taste at the Walton Arts Festival, 20-22nd September.

In a purely chronological order, here are some of the alternatives to ‘mainstream’ music.

First off we have some smooth jazz from J2Z at East Coast 5 on Friday night from 8.00pm. A lively, local jazz trio, they play your classic jazz standards and bring the ‘jazz lounge’ style to more modern numbers from movie themes to soul. Great easy listening.

Alternatively at the Bruff Bar, also on Friday night, She Brings the Rain have a generally laid back approach to combining bass, guitar, violin and voice that might be construed as folk, jazz or something totally different, but wonderfully entertaining. They also start at 8.00pm.

Your first music shot on Saturday is at The Nose at 11.30am when young singer/songwriter Evy Frearson gives you, in her words, ‘a bit of dark, alternative, floaty rock’. Labelled as one to watch by DJs around the country. You can watch her in Walton.

Evy is followed at The Nose by new folk duo Jesse and Adrian Renton at 1.30pm or at 2pm you can give your lungs a blast in the Victory as Lou Strong gets everyone going with Sea Shanties for Fun.

And don’t forget, Grafitti Classics are at All Saints Church from 2pm offering a fun introduction to classical music for kids and adults.

The Blue Orchids are at the Bath House from 6.00pm with an acoustic set covering popular songs from 60s to the present day with Broomwagon at the Bruff Bar from 8pm. A blues duo playing original music, they’re regular visitors to Walton and agreeably popular.

There’s plenty more happening on the music scene, including a Capella and great local choirs and singers. Follow us on Facebook for all the latest from Walton Arts Festival.
