Preserves, bakery, handmade goods, recycled goodies, music, activities for the youngsters….? Well, it will all be here in Walton’s Millennium Square for a special Between the Tides Market on Saturday, September 21st from 10am-4pm.
Expect around a dozen market stalls selling artisan and handmade items. And by artisan we mean local producers who have made all their own produce, whether it’s a jar of jam or a cupcake.
The Festival market starts at 10.00 am and goes on all day, and is punctuated by some dance, song and poetry. Fantari, the dance troupe, will be belly dancing at 11.30am and by local band Etcetera at 3pm.
Emma of 'Cakes by Emma' is bringing her pretty pink cupcake caravan to the market and will be running a cake competition with a Between the Tides theme. Drop off between 10am and 12pm.
Then, at 2.00pm, you can ‘Catchup with Ketchup’ and go on a carpet ride of tales of Karen Dennis’ travels in Africa and her collection of clothes made from discarded items. Her brand grew out of frustration with a world that appeared intent on throwing away rather than repairing or consuming rather than making.
As if that’s not enough to keep you busy and around the town centre when the tide is in, there will be rides for under 12s and activities like milk churns and hook-a-bag.
There won’t be hot food stalls this time as we would invite you to go and eat at the wonderful cafes and restaurants around the town, but there should be something there to feed your soul.
